Members and friends of St. James’ had a blast at our 2023 Shrove Tuesday pancake supper! We enjoyed:
- The best pancakes in the Hudson Valley!
- Music from the St. James’ Fat Tuesday Pick-up Band (Russell on clarinet, Christopher on bass, Ciara on trumpet, Wendy on vocals, and EVERYONE on sing-along and kazoo!)
- A pancake-decorating contest, with awards ranging from “Most Iconic” to “Most Realistic”
- The world’s only Wheel of Lenten Disciplines—give it a spin and let the Holy Spirit give you a new fast or practice for Lent!
- A closing prayer service with Goodbye to Alleluias and Burning of the Palms to make the ashes for Ash Wednesday
- And much more.
Thank you to everyone who contributed food, decorations, and creative talents to make this a great celebration.

Decorating the Alleluia banner. In the season of Lent we fast from the "Alleluia" shout of joy, so we've put this banner away until Easter!

Gathered outside the church, we burned the palms from last year's Palm Sunday celebration. The ashes will be used in observing Ash Wednesday.
