🌈Pride, Recognition Sunday, Young Master Gardeners and more… a week in pictures at St. James’

Another great week at St. James’ Church… here’s a few pictures from the last seven days!

On Friday evening June 9th, we filled up more than a full row for the opening night of Fiddler on the Roof, presented by the New Deal Creative Arts Center at the Rhinebeck Center for the Performing Arts. Lots of St. James’ friends in the show, including director Joe Gasparini, actors Teresa Gasparini, Wendy Urban-Mead, and past rector the Rev. Chuck Kramer, musician Russell Urban-Mead, and stage manager Grace Woodcock!

On Saturday, June 10th, we joined other Episcopal churches in Dutchess County at Poughkeepsie Pride (June 10th) to spread the good news about God’s love for the LGBTQ+ community.

Also on Saturday, we hosted our second Yellow Chapel Emporium of the year, featuring live music and vendors and makers from across the region at our historic East Market Street chapel.

Recognition Sunday on June 11th brought a special prayer for our graduating seniors Braeden Hall, Kasey Gaulin, and Bill Fenwick (l-r, above) AND certificates for our Sunday School kids who completed a year. Thank you to everyone, especially Sunday School teachers Val Gaulin and Patty Glancey, for helping make St. James’ a great place for youth and kids to grow as God’s beloveds!

On Tuesday the 13th, we welcomed a great crew of second graders from North Park Elementary School for our Young Master Gardeners Program at the Hyde Park Community Garden (a ministry here at St. James’).

The Young Master Gardeners planted the vegetables they started from seed (veggies will be contributed to the Hyde Park Food Pantry). They also painted rocks, had a scavenger hunt, decorated t-shirts, and heard stories. Thank you to the fantastic teachers and nurse at North Park Elementary, to all the parents who chaperoned, to Candace from the Staatsburg Library for reading, to Carrie and Bernie from Crazy Over Art on Tour, and to St. James’ own Deb Belding (Community Garden maven and and driving force behind the Young Master Gardeners program), along with Leslie Quick who volunteered to help out for the day.
