St. James’ welcomes you for the journey of Holy Week and the joy of Easter!

Palm Sunday:
The Sunday of the Passion (March 24th)

  • 8 am Quiet, spoken Eucharist with palm procession and reading of Matthew’s Passion Gospel
  • 10 am Traditional Eucharist featuring Palm procession (starts outdoors, weather permitting), dramatic reading of Mark’s Passion Gospel, and music (Sunday School for kids follows the Palm procession)
 
Both services held at St. James’ Episcopal Church (4526 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park) 

Maundy Thursday (March 28th)

6 pm Solemn service commemorating Jesus’ institution of the Eucharist. 

  • Starts in the Parish Hall with a simple supper, scripture readings, homily, and optional footwashing
  • Procession to the Church for celebration of Holy Communion and
  • Stripping of the Altar
  • The Watch continues overnight in the Church
 

This service brings together the congregations of St. James’ and our neighbor church, St. Margaret’s in Staatsburg. St. James’ hosts at 4526 Albany Post Road.

Good Friday (March 29th)

10:15 am Hyde Park Walk of the Cross
  • Solemn procession through the heart of Hyde Park hosted by the Christian communities of the village
  • Starts outside Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 2 Harvey Street
 

7 pm Solemn Liturgy for Good Friday at St. Margaret’s, Staatsburg

  • A solemn service commemorating Jesus’ trial and death by crucifixion
  • Reading of the Passion according to John
  • Veneration of the Cross
  • Communion from the Reserved Sacrament
 

This service brings together the congregations of St. James’ and our neighbor church, St. Margaret’s in Staatsburg. St. Margaret’s hosts at the corner of Old Post Road and East Elm in Staatsburg. 

The Great Vigil of Easter
(Saturday evening, March 30th)

7:30 pm The Great Vigil of Easter at our 10 East Market Street Chapel 

  • Beginning at sundown, the Great Vigil of Easter is a wild ride through the stories of God’s saving acts in human history—culminating with the Resurrection and the first Eucharist of Easter.
  • Bring bells to ring! 
  • A celebratory champagne, sparkling juice, and dessert reception follows!
 
This service brings together the congregations of St. James’ and our neighbor church, St. Margaret’s in Staatsburg. St. James’ hosts at our historic “Yellow Chapel” at 10 East Market Street, Hyde Park. 
 

Easter Sunday (March 31st)

  • 8 am Spoken Eucharist with proclamation of the Resurrection
  • 10 am Festival Eucharist with proclamation of the Resurrection, festive music, and flowering of the Cross
  • Easter Egg Hunt for kids on the lawn after the 10 am service
  • Festive treats and coffee for all ages in our Parish Hall after the 10 am service, plus a celebration to honor our departing Minister of Music, Glenn May!
