Join Mtr. Meredith on Thursday evenings this fall for an introduction to our life of faith in The Episcopal Church. Each session will start at 6 pm with a simple meal, followed by teaching and conversation.
Who can join in?
This series is designed to prepare adults to be Confirmed* or Received** in The Episcopal Church by Bishop Shin when he visits St. James’ on October 29th.
And… sessions are also open to anyone who wants to learn more about our life of faith together! This includes longtime members of St. James’, and folks who are curious, but not sure about being Confirmed/Received.
* Wait, what’s Confirmation? Confirmation is the sacramental rite in which candidates “express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop” (BCP. p. 860). If you were baptized at an early age, Confirmation is your public affirmation of the vows made on your behalf at your baptism.
** What about Reception? Reception is a rite for those who were baptized in another Christian communion, made an adult affirmation of faith in that communion, and now wish to join the Episcopal Church.
