Mondays and Saturdays are Mother Meredith’s days off; on these days you will receive a response only in case of pastoral emergency.
The Rev. Meredith Kadet Sanderson joined the ministry of St. James’ in 2022. She loves to talk about Jesus, sing loudly, ride her bike, and spend time in St. James’ own Hyde Park Community Garden. Mother Meredith is passionate about helping congregations grow in faith, courage, and joy, especially in challenging and changing times.
She serves on the Standing Committee of the Diocese of New York, is a trainer with the College for Congregational Development, and is the designated representative of the Bishop of New York on the Board of Trustees of Bard College.
Before coming to St. James’, Mother Meredith served in the Diocese of Central New York as chief of staff to the bishop, diocesan director of communications, and priest-in-charge of Christ Episcopal Church in Jordan, New York. She had also served as director of programs for Episcopal Charities in the Diocese of New York, where she worked at the intersection of faith, justice, and community care.
Mother Meredith holds a Master of Divinity in systematic theology from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. A graduate of Bard College, a former farm intern with the Community of the Holy Spirit in Brewster, and a longtime friend of Holy Cross Monastery, she feels deeply at home in the Hudson Valley.
She and her husband, Christopher Carter Sanderson, a theater artist and writer, are the parents of their son Max, age 8, and the devoted wranglers of two dogs: Charlie, a loud and elderly Jack Russell terrier, and Daffodil, an oversized coonhound mix.
