DESCRIPTION:St. James’ Annual Meeting will take place Sunday\, January 29th\, following a single combined service of Holy Eucharist at 9:00 a.m. Both the service and the meeting will be available via Zoom as well as in-person. \n  \nSchedule:  \n9:00 a.m. Polls open; Holy Eucharist (this is the only worship service for Sunday\, 1/29) \n10:00 a.m. All-Church photo (in front of the red doors\, weather permitting!) Followed by a brief coffee break in the Parish House\, hosted by members of the St. James’ Vestry \n10:30 a.m. Annual Meeting in the Church\, with activities for youth K-12 in the Parish Hall \n  \nElections at the Annual Meeting:  \nElections shall be held at this Annual Meeting to fill the following expiring terms of office: \n\nWarden\, 2-year term (Doug Belding)\nVestry member\, 3-year term (Mike Glancey)\nVestry member\, 3-year term (Melinda Harris)\nVestry member\, 3-year term (Eric Zavadil)\n\nPolls will be open at 9:00 a.m. \n  \nYouth at the Annual Meeting:  Our Sunday School teachers will host a hangout (with coloring\, fellowship\, DVDs and more) for youth age K-12 in the Parish Hall during the Annual Meeting. \n  \nThe deadline for 2022 annual reports is Friday\, January 20th. Presidential Library\, The National Park Service. The Wreath on Behalf of the President of the United States will be presented by Brigadier General Shane Reeves\, Dean of the Academic Board\, United States Military Academy at West Point. SUMMARY:Candlemas: Soup Supper\, Candlelight Procession\, and Holy Eucharist
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, February 2nd is the Feast of the Presentation\, also known as Candlemas. This feast day comes forty days after Christmas and commemorates the presentation of baby Jesus and the purification of his mother Mary in the Jerusalem temple forty days after his birth. At his presentation\, the baby Jesus was greeted by Simeon (whose prayer upon encountering Jesus became the basis for the canticle nunc dimmittis (see page 120 in your Book of Common Prayer) and by the prophet Anna. Over time\, this celebration came to include the lighting and blessing of candles\, remembering Simeon’s prayer that Jesus is “a light to enlighten the nations.”  \nThis year for Candlemas\, join St. James’ in our Parish Hall for a 5:45 pm soup supper followed by a candlelight procession to the church for a special evening Holy Eucharist! The Eucharist will take place at approximately 6:30 p.m. \nRSVP requested (but not required) so Mtr. Meredith knows how much soup to make. You can RSVP here or to Dyan in the parish office.
