DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a worship service (including celebration of Holy Communion) honoring Eleanor Roosevelt on Saturday\, December 10th—the United Nations Day of Human Rights—at 10:00 a.m. This service will feature Mrs. Roosevelt’s favorite prayer as well as prayers based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights she was instrumental in creating. \nThis event will be held in St. James’ Episcopal Chapel\, 10 East Market Street\, Hyde Park. \nMrs. Roosevelt was a devoted Christian\, Episcopalian\, and member of St. James’ Church. The 246th Convention of the Diocese of New York (November 2022) passed a resolution authorizing and encouraging commemorations of Eleanor Roosevelt on Human Rights Day. Such “local observance” is part of The Episcopal Church’s process for the addition of a saint to the Church’s official calendar of observances.
