SUMMARY:Centering Prayer (Church)
DESCRIPTION:Centering prayer is a type of meditation with a long history in the Christian tradition\, beginning with the 14th century English monk who wrote The Cloud of Unknowing. But you don’t need to be a monk or a mystic to practice centering prayer and experience its benefits. Lent is the perfect time to enter the quiet of this practice. Beginners welcome. Sessions will last about 30 minutes. Tuesdays at 6 pm in the church (starting 2/20). \nLed by Tessa Kale\, who has taken many retreats on centering prayer with Cynthia Bourgeault and is a participant in her Wisdom School.

DESCRIPTION:Our weekly Bible study on Zoom usually focuses on the Gospel for the upcoming Sunday and is led by Mtr. Meredith. We practice a contemplative\, prayerful style of Bible study that focuses on how God is speaking to us through our questions\, responses\, curiosities and doubts as we engage Scripture.  \nThe study is followed by a brief\, optional service of noonday prayer. \nJoin in any Wednesday at 11 am. No previous preparation is required. The Zoom link is distributed via our weekly email newsletter (or contact the parish office). \n

SUMMARY:Lenten Study: Meeting God in the Gospel of Mark (Wilks Room)
DESCRIPTION:Mother Meredith will offer a 3-session Lenten Book Study on the Gospel of Mark on Thursdays in Lent\, March 7th\, 14th\, and 21st at 7 pm. We’ll meet in the Wilks Room. Each session will be followed by a 15-minute service of Compline (the Church’s bedtime prayer) at 8 pm. \nWe’ll read and discuss Mark’s Gospel alongside Archbishop Rowan Williams’ book Meeting God in Mark. This short (just 75 pages!) but mighty study book is available for about $11 from any bookseller or massive online retailer. Please read the introduction and first chapter prior to the first session. \nDownload the Lenten Reading Plan for the Gospel of Mark\, from Meeting God in Mark. There is a reading for each day\, Monday to Saturday\, and a Sunday reflection. Starting on Ash Wednesday and reading a chapter or less each day\, you’ll finish the Gospel of Mark by Easter Sunday.
