This service has music (usually organ and choir\, along with special guest musicians) and uses a variety of prayers and language from traditional to inclusive and expansive\, drawing from Rite II of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer\, Enriching Our Worship\, and other sources. \nCoffee hour in the Parish House usually follows this service. \nSunday School for kindergarten and up meets today on the second floor of the Parish House at 10:00 a.m. Students will rejoin the congregation just before Holy Communion. DESCRIPTION:Discover (or rediscover) our faith life together in The Episcopal Church! \nThe course will meet in the Parish House (sometimes the Wilks Room\, sometimes the Hall) every Wednesday from 6-8 pm\,  through October 22. You can attend the whole series or pop in on a given week. Light supper is provided. If you’re popping in\, please RSVP to Mtr. Meredith and note any dietary restrictions. You can also get a copy of that week’s reading from her in advance. \nTopics include: \n\nThe Bible—What is the Bible? Why do we read it? How do we know what it means? \nBeliefs—What do Episcopalians believe? How do we talk about God? Why do we say the Nicene Creed every Sunday? Join us for this week’s Episcopal 101 as we explore these questions together. Light dinner provided—please RSVP to Mtr. Meredith.\nBaptism & Eucharist—What is a sacrament? What are the promises we make about our lives as Christians? How do the sacraments change our lives? \nHistory—Where does the Episcopal Church come from\, and why does that matter today? \nPrayer—What is prayer? How do we pray and how can we grow our lives of prayer together? \n\nRemember this is open to everyone\, from newcomers to longtime members. Those who complete the course will have the option to be Confirmed or Received when Bishop Matt visits St. James’ on Sunday\, October 26th.
